Investment Law

Any legal person is entitled to make an investment in Serbia. When it comes to investing a bigger sum, it is worth having a lawyer at your side to make sureyour money is as safe as possible.

Why invest in Serbia?

Located in the north of the Balkan peninsula, Serbia has a unique position between the East and the West of Europe. During its long and rich history, it has always incorporated a diversity of peoples and religions. These historic ties with a variety of countries are evident today in the fact that you can travel visa-free from Spain to Siberia with a Serbian passport.

Set to conclude the negotiations to become a full member of the European Union, Serbia has become extremely attractive for foreign investors in the last few years. The government supports foreign investors by a very simple process of company registration, tax breaks for big investments, and easy citizenship and residency options for foreign investors.

The population, especially younger generations, are extremely cosmopolitan, and have English skills that surpass those of other Eastern European countries by far. Thus, language will not be a barrier for you to find trusted business partners, reliable employees or socialize after work. The cost of living, as well as labor costs in Serbia are well below the Western European level.

The Serbian Citizenship Investment Program

The Serbian government announced an attractive investment citizenship scheme in 2016. There are three possibilities for obtaining Serbian citizenship in as little as 2-3 months: investment in a business, buying real estate or a one-time donation. A particularly attractive feature of the Serbian Citizenship Investment Program is that you can easily include your spouse, your children up to the age of 25, and even your parents above the age of 60.

Residency in Serbia

If you wish to invest a lower sum in Serbia than is required in the Citizenship Investment Program, you can still enjoy many of the benefits by obtaining temporary or permanent residency in Serbia. If you form your own Serbian company, you can immediately get a temporary residence permit, which you can later change to a permanent residence permit and even Serbian citizenship.
